Learn More about it

The purpose of  Reconciliation is to bring us back to being one with God. When we sin, we deprive ourselves of God’s grace. And by doing so, we make it even easier to sin some more. The only way out of this downward cycle is to acknowledge our sins, to repent of them, and to ask God’s forgiveness. In the Sacrament of Reconciliation, grace can be restored to our souls, and we can once again resist sin.

Canon Law spells out that all the faithful who have reached the age of discretion are bound faithfully to confess their grave sins at least once a year.   But because celebration of this sacrament, as with all others, is a privilege and an opportunity to grow closer to God, all individuals are encouraged to regularly participate in reconciliation, even when no grave sins are present.

“The regular confession of our venial sins helps us form our conscience, fight against evil tendencies, let ourselves be healed by Christ Jesus and progress in the life of the Spirit. By receiving more frequently, through this sacrament, the gift of the Father’s mercy, we are spurred to be merciful as He is merciful.”

Reconciliation Times:  The sacrament is offered 45 minutes prior to each weekend Mass or By Appointment.  Please contact the Parish Office for additional information.
